Dubai Public Prosecution revealed today, Monday, that a customs inspector at Dubai International Airport seized a bag containing a large sum of money with a 56-year-old Asian traveler, but the traveler claimed not to know what was in the bag.
The Public Prosecution confirmed that the traveler arrived at Dubai International Airport, and when he approached the inspection, one of the inspectors suspected the bag he had in his possession, and after searching it, he found a large amount of money hidden in a technical manner, which prompted the traveler to deny his knowledge of its contents.
In the investigation, the traveler stated that he “obtained the bag from someone in his home country with the aim of delivering it to his friend in Dubai.”
Counterfeit sums
According to the investigations of the Public Prosecution, the inspector examined the sums of money at one of the exchange offices in the free zone at Dubai International Airport to show that they were forged.
The Public Prosecution accused the traveler of bringing and possessing false sums of money in front of the Judicial Authority in the Criminal Court, noting that the total value of the exact amount is 3 million and 592 thousand rupees, equivalent to 185 thousand and 467 dirhams.
