An official said new radars had been installed to arrest motorists who did not wear seat belts, used mobile phones and suddenly veered off.
“The radar will reduce traffic violations and ensure the safety of road users throughout the city. New smart devices will be installed on roads and various highways to discover the behavior of drivers not committed to driving safely,” said Brigadier Saif Muheer Al Mazrouei, Director of Traffic Department at Dubai Police .
“Many road users can be victims of other drivers’ mistakes. Some drivers don’t understand the seriousness of some of the ideas that they think are simple,” he added.
Brig. Al-Mazroui said that such crimes could lead to tragic incidents for the innocent.
For his part, Colonel Eng. Muhammad Ali Karam, Director of Traffic Technologies in the Traffic Department, said that the new radar is characterized by artificial intelligence technologies and can be programmed to detect any violations or other wrong behavior.
Colonel Karam said, “The device is connected through a network that supports 4G technology to a platform dealing with police violations and the radar management system.”
